We co-created this flavour with 8 entrepreneurs with refugee backgrounds and allies from the migrant entrepreneur community. What’s even better? Proceeds of the new flavour will fund refugee led startup businesses, supporting the next generation to flourish​.

A flavour with a mission, co-created with refugees.

We are buzzing about this never-before-seen flavour. Because, what makes it so special is the people who created it and their passion for the ingredients inside.

Right now, more than 80 million people worldwide have been forcibly displaced from their homes — more than at any point in history. People are fleeing the effects of climate change, poverty, violence, and war. We recognise that people who are refugees are often some of the most entrepreneurial, and that entrepreneurship can help people rebuild their lives. ​

That’s why Ben & Jerry’s Flavour Gurus got together with eight entrepreneurs with refugee backgrounds, alongside allies from TERN (The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network) and the migrant entrepreneur community, and retail experts from Co-op to create this stand-out flavour. Together, they worked as a team to bring the tastes and cultures of their home countries to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream family.

It's not the first time we’ve worked with TERN, back in 2017 we teamed up to create the UP Collective, a training programme for people with refugee backgrounds that we run annually. All participants involved this ice cream design challenge are graduates of UP Collective.
